Our trip to Italy We were planning a trip, but we were not sure where to go. Our options were to go to Europe or South America. After checking prices and the offers we decided it was better to go to Europe. We left from PR on a Saturday morning, next stop was NY City. At the airport we got chill at some bar and get ready for a lot of hours in a flight. At the airplane, as usual, we where boring, watching a lot of movies, eating bad food, and desperate to get at our destination. Finally, at Venice! Once we got there we take a bus that leave us close to the hotel, but like good pertinacious, we donââ¬â¢t read or look at the map to see where was the exact location of the hotel. We walked for almost 2 hours to see where was the hotel. After walking under the rain and freezing we decided to ask where was our hotel. It was close to the bus station, only 5 minutes walking!!! We do the check in and took a little nap. I was so tire because of the flight. Every day we wake up at 8:00 a. M. To enjoyed the breakfast and after that walked all day to see the different museums and places in Venice. After a few day eating pasta and drinking wine I was looking forward to our next place, Florence! At Florence we walked like the airwoman race, a lot of miles to get to our destiny. It was the first time I used a train, a really fast train! It was awesome! We enjoyed the view of the place, the wineries, the houses, everything was pretty. When we where at Florence it was Easter celebration, we saw all the Catholic rituals and it was amazing to see all the people getting together to celebrated that holiday, a lot of people celebrating the same. As usual, we walked a lot every day. In the last day at Florence we got a reservation at Dittoââ¬â¢s Restaurant to taste a Bisect Florentine, it was a piece of meat almost raw, so bloody and red, I canââ¬â¢t eat it, but the owner was very nice. The next day went to Rome, my favorite destination in the entire trip. We saw the culture, the famous places, the Coliseum, it was really awesome. When I finally saw the Coliseum I canââ¬â¢t describe what I felt. A lot of history in front of my eyes, I canââ¬â¢t compared that experience to anything before. During the entire trip I was really happy, I canââ¬â¢t believe I went to Italy, one in the bucket list destination, I was happy as a child that goes to Disney Land for the first time. William Shakespeares Taming of the Shrew Essay William Shakespeares Taming of the Shrew is one of the most classic comedies throughout all of literature. Several stage productions have been professionally done, and each version has it positive sides and negative sides. This paper will be about comparing and contrasting the two versions I have seen. I have seen the Elizabeth Taylor version that Ill be calling the movie version and I have seen the one we watched in AP English. Even though both versions are telling the same story the way in which they do it and the directors interpretation are very different from each other. Both versions of the play I have seen have several similarities, but really are more different from each other than similar. One semi-important scene both versions leave out is the introduction, with Sly the beggar. Both directors must have decided that these scenes really dont help the play much and it would be best if they are left out. Thats really about where the similarities stop. Almost all of the other aspects of both plays are different from one another. First off just the general characterization of some main characters is way different from each other. In the movie version Petruchio is cast as kind of a grizzled older man while in the play version, he was a young man sowing his wild oats. Kate is played as pretty much a total psycho in the beginning of the movie version. In the play version she is very shrew, but at least she isnt destroying everything she sees. The version we watched in class was very true to the play, I wish the say could be said for the movie version. There are several scenes and lines that are left out of this version, and on top on that a bunch of scenes were added for possibly dramatic effect. This was kind of distracting, but I suppose if one didnt know the play very well then it wouldnt be that big of deal. One part I did enjoy in the movie version that was kind of implied in the play version was when Kate was getting married and Petruchio gives her an obnoxious kiss. Both versions of the play were good for different reasons. The play version was better in one is a true conusor of Shakespeare. While the movie version was good if one just likes a good story that makes one feel all warm inside. The play version was far superior in accuracy, but it still didnt have young Elizabeth Taylor.

Whale Rider Characterization essays In the movie Whale Rider, the characterization of Pai is an important component of both the movement of the story and an important insight into director Niki Caro's vision for the theme and meaning of the film. The movie tells the story of a young girl, Pai, and her grandfather Karo who must struggle with adapting a patriarchal Maori legend with the Pai's seeming affinity with sacred traditions. In Maori legend, the Father arrives on the humpback of a whale to give life to the tribe. A chosen son must arrive in the same way in order to revive live whenever the tribe is suffering. Pai shows all of the signs of the second coming, including leadership and affinity with the whales and martial arts. However, she is female, and her affinity must be suppressed, which serves Within Whale Rider, the characterization of Pai ultimately reveals a complex and spiritual force in the shape of a 12-year-old girl. The failure of the education system to cope with the advancements of the current era has led it to increasingly being bureaucratic, cumbersome and very clunky, causing abject failure for millions of youths who leave high school with little to show for it (Varenne 57). Keeping in mind that we have already had more than our fair share of education in the United States, what we need to have is the spirit of enterprise, which most people learn at the work place rather than at school. Things like the school leaving age and other outdated factors need to be phased out in an effort to reform our education system. In conclusion, education reform is a process that is never ending and places the stakeholders in a difficulty position. Sometimes it is hard to know which reforms will achieve the desired goals but it is time that this agenda was taken to the next level.

Born in Salem, Mass, Nathaniel Hawthorne was a descendant of a judge in the Salem witch trials. He spent a solitary, bookish childhood with his widowed and antisocial mother. After graduating from Bowdoin College, he returned to Salem and prepared for a writing career with 12 years of solitary study and writing interrupted by summer tours through the Northeast. After privately publishing a novel, Fanshawe in 1828, he began publishing stories in the Token and New England Magazine. These original allegories of New England Puritanism, including such classic stories as "The Minister's Black Veil," were collected in, Twice-Told Tales, published in 1837. A brief period of paid employment, including the compilation of popular children's works and a stint at the Boston Custom House from 1839-to 1841, was followed by a half-year's residence at the transcendentalist community, Brook Farm. In 1842 he married Sophia Amelia Peabody, also a transcendentalist, and they moved to Concord, Mass., where he began a friendship with Henry David Thoreau. Financial problems forced his return to Salem from 1845 to 1849, where he secured another political appointment, this time as surveyor of the port of Salem. During these years he continued to publish Puritan tales such as, "Young Goodman Brown" and "The Birthmark"; collections of his stories included Mosses from an Old Manse published in 1846 and The Snow Image published in1851. His dismissal from the surveyorship initiated the brief period of his greatest novels: The Scarlet Letter in 1850, The House of the Seven Gables in 1851, and The Blithdale Romance in 1852. He also wrote two children's classics: A Wonder-Book in 1852 and Tanglewood Tales in 1853. His campaign biography of Franklin Pierce in 1852 was rewarded with the U.S. counsulship at Liverpool 1853 to 1858. He then went to live in Italy in 1858 to 1859, where he began The Marble Faun, which he published after returning to the United States in 1860. Back in Concord, he published his last major work, Our Old Home in 1863, which drew on his experiences in England, but by then he was becoming ill and disillusioned. Nathaniel Hawthorne was an average man who saw things, not necessarily in a different way, but in a different light. He was able to use this ability and transform it onto paper. He would begin to write and slowly but almost definitely become emotionally involved by the end of the novel or short story.
